The report found:
1. Financial incentives haven’t changed since 2014, as 86 percent of the physicians are still compensated under fee-for-service or salary arrangements similar to those they reported two years ago.
2. One-half of physicians report bonuses are less than or equal to 10 percent of their compensation; another one-third report being ineligible for performance bonuses.
3. Three in four physicians reported following clinical protocols but just 36 percent said they had access to comprehensive protocols for many conditions.
4. Just 20 percent of physicians said they receive data on how much care costs.
5. Thirty percent of respondents said they participate in value-based payment models, up only 5 percent from 2014. Another 16 percent said they participate in episode-based payment models and 13 percent reported bundled payments.
6. Forty percent of physicians still prefer fee-for-service as their No. 1 compensation model of choice; 38 percent preferred salary and 11 percent said shared savings.
