Here are four things to know about the center:
1. The facility costs $77 million and is a specialty pediatric center.
2. The outpatient center houses an ASC as well as Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center’s clinical, diagnostic and rehabilitation units.
3. Aaron Hansen, the project’s development director, said the hospital chose to build the center in Pasadena for two core reasons — the Pasadena community and its proximity to Huntington Hospital, which is Shriners’ clinical partner on the project.
4. The center does not have capacity for overnight stay, but Mr. Hansen noted that “85 percent of what we do is everything that occurs before and after surgery, so our medical center is designed around that.”
