Here’s what you should know.
1. Of the 129,007 patients undergoing 183,914 procedures, 5.4 percent underwent the procedure at an ASC, 26.7 percent at hospitals and 15.9 percent at an office-based suite.
Patients at the office suites were less likely to undergo combined procedures.
2. Complication rates at office-based suites were the lowest of the trio at 1.3 percent. ASCs and hospitals were at 1.9 percent and 2.4 percent respectively.
3. A multivariate analysis showed there was a low risk of complication in an office-based suite than at an ASC or hospital.
4. The new findings support past findings by the AAAASF that show the incidence of mortality in AAAASF facilities was “very low.”
