Physicians Health Plan announced that it would be pulling out of Indiana’s insurance exchange “to avoid millions of dollars in losses.”
Here’s what you should know:
1. More than 6,000 customers will have to chose a new health plan after the insurer’s departure.
2. The insurer will continue to sell small group insurance, but is dropping all individual coverages.
3. Indiana ACA customers will have four insurers to choose from after Physicians leaves the exchanges.
4. UnitedHealthcare also announced it would be leaving the Indiana exchanges recently.
5. Federal officials have said they’re confident consumers will continue to find affordable options.
