Gastroenterologist Dr. Mark Murphy named president of the Savannah Book Festival’s board of directors — 3 highlights

The Savannah Book Festival board of directors has elected Mark E. Murphy, MD, as its new president, according to The Savannah Tribune.

2. Dr. Murphy is a founding partner of The Center for Liver and Digestive Health in Savannah, Ga. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and completed both his residency and fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

3. Dr. Murphy is the author of two books — The Curse of the Thrax, a young adult fantasy fiction novel, and The Shadow Man, an adult crime fiction novel.
