UnitedHealth to exit Georgia, Arkansas exchanges — 5 takeaways

UnitedHealth plans to exit the Affordable Care Act exchanges in Georgia and Arkansas, according to The Hill.

1. In November, the payer warned it would drop out of unprofitable ACA exchanges.

2. UnitedHealth reported expected losses totaling $1 billion from participating in ACA marketplaces.

3. The payer only entered the Arkansas marketplace last November, and did not comment why it was leaving in 2017.

4. Last fall, UnitedHealth enrolled 600,000 people throughout its ACA plans.
