Here are six things to know:
1. The new emergency room, ER at the Lakes, should open in fall 2016.
2. Open 24 hours, the emergency room will be a fully-integrated department of Southern Hills Hospital.
3. HCA is building the new ER to solve capacity issues at traditional ERs in Southern Nevada. Between 2012 and 2014, ER visits and admissions at 13 Las Vegas Valley hospitals increased 10.5 percent, according to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
4. About 10,000 square feet, board-certified ER physicians and nurses will staff the 12 ER patient rooms.
5. The facility will welcome vehicle ambulance services and walk-in patients, offering emergent and urgent care. A separate entrance will provide pediatric services.
6. ER at the Lakes will have a lab and blood bank, a pharmacy and radiology services.
“HCA identified a growing need for ER services in Southern Nevada, and provider-based emergency rooms can play a valuable role in alleviating the burden placed on traditional ERs,” said Rob Dyer, senior vice president of strategy and development, HCA’s Far West Division.
