GI physician leader to know: Dr. Michael Cannon of Beaumont Health System

Michael E. Cannon, MD, is a gastroenterologist practicing at Royal Oak, Mich.-based Beaumont Health System and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Center in Tory, Mich. He is also an associate professor at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Rochester, Minn.

Dr. Cannon’s clinical interests include Crohn’s disease, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatic disease, therapeutic endoscopy of pancreatic and biliary diseases as well as ulcerative colitis. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and has a subspecialty certification in gastroenterology. He is also a member of numerous national, regional and local professional organizations.

Dr. Cannon earned his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He completed his residency at the University of Michigan Hospitals & Health Centers in Ann Arbor, where he also completed a GI fellowship.
