Indiana lacking in healthcare quality: 5 insights

Indiana did not impress on the recent report from The Commonwealth Fund and a report from the United Health Foundation, according to IndyStar.

Here are five insights:

1. Indiana held its rank as 43rd on The Commonwealth Fund report.

2. Despite its low ranking, Indiana improved in adolescent insurance coverage, percentage of adults who are physically active and preventable hospitalizations for Medicare patients.

3. The state ranks low for public health spending, air pollution and smoking rates.

4. Indiana’s adolescent poverty rate increased to 23.3 percent in 2015, up from 14.7 percent in 2014.

5. Indiana worsened in adolescent vaccination rates and adult obesity rates.
