Elmhurst (Ill.) Hospital’s endoscopy unit has been recognized by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

1. The ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program honors endoscopy units that have demonstrated a commitment to patient safety and quality.

2. Elmhurst Hospital’s endoscopy unit is one of more than 400 endoscopy units to be granted the recognition since 2009.

3. To win the recognition, Elmhurst Hospital’s endoscopy unit underwent a rigorous peer-reviewed application process as well as met the program’s criteria, which includes ASGE guidelines.
