Dr. Schmitt has served as a reviewer for GIE: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, which is ASGE’s journal. He is also a past president of the Tennessee Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and has authored more than 50 scientific papers, books chapters, reviews and editorials.
Dr. Schmitt completed his medical education at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Duke University in Durham, N.C.
