Ultimately the budget passed 19-17, and Republicans were unable to eliminate a new 6 percent tax on ASCs, reports The Greenwich Time.
The first attempts to change the proposed budget package failed 82-60, which would have restored some funding to state hospitals as well as eliminate the ASC tax, according to the report.
The state budget will now go to Gov. Dannel P. Mallory for review.
