Price transparency in North Carolina could be used to push for CON reform

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina recently launched a price transparency website, and the online tool highlights the lower cost of outpatient care, according to a Forbes report.

The price transparency discussion could pave the way for another look at the state’s certificate of need program, according to the report. The eventual goal would be to allow for establishment of physician-led ambulatory surgery centers, as well as allowing physician offices to provide more diagnostic services.
