Here are five gastroenterologists who recently stepped into new leadership roles.

Stephen Hanauer, MD, FACG, was elected the 2014 to 2015 president of the American College of Gastroenterology.

Gastroenterologist and hepatologist Khurram Qadir, MD, joined KishHealth System Physician Group, based in Plano, Ill.,

Babu Rao, MD, joined Regional GI Associates in Jackson, Tenn.

James B. Watson, MD, joined Southcoast Physicians Group in Fall River, Mass.

Ramnik Xavier, MD, PhD, chief of gastroenterology and director of the Center for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, became the co-director of the newly launched Center for Microbiome Informatics and Therapeutics.
