Vijay Khiania and associates from Yale University in New Haven, Conn., administered the Berlin OSA questionnaire to 233 patients before routine endoscopies to determine how many had undiagnosed OSA, according to the report. Patients were also monitored for transient hypoxia during endoscopy.
The researchers found that 39 percent of patients were at high risk for OSA, but they found no significant difference between low- and high-risk patients for transient hypoxia, according to the report.
