The Intelligent Research in Sight Registry is a centralized repository and reporting tool to collect data from electronic health records and perform statistical analysis of aggregated, de-identified patient data. The reports are designed to validate the quality of care and pinpoint opportunities for improvement.

Physicians and researchers can use the assessment to study best practices and develop a strategic plan to improve patient outcomes. Participation also automatically qualifies the physician’s participation in the Physician Quality Reporting System to CMS.

AAO plans to expand the Registry’s scope to include functions for supporting the American Board of Ophthalmology’s Maintenance of Certification Part IV Performance Improvement Modules.
