Some of the changes include an expanded chapter on sources and treatment of wastewater and the addition of two chapters: one on healthcare waste management in emergencies and one on emerging diseases, drug-resistant pathogens, climate change and technology advances that will need to be accounted for in future healthcare waste systems.
