According to researchers, SSI rates were reduced with:
1. Individualized modifications to antibiotic prophylaxis regimens.
2. Improved patient blood glucose control.
3. Smoking cessation on the part of the patient.
4. Proper antibiotic prophylaxis.
5. Shortened surgery time.
