National Government Services, CMS to hold ICD-10 listening sessions.
National Government Services and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will hold a series of interactive listening sessions on ICD-10 in July and August. The sessions will focus on helping large providers, small providers and payers with ICD-10 end-to-end testing. The sessions will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. ET on dates from July 22 to Aug. 9.

73 percent of surgical specialists likely to be part of physician and hospital integration trend.
Physician integration with hospitals is a growing trend and 73 percent of surgical specialists feel they are likely or very likely to integrate with a hospital, according to the Deloitte’s Physician Perspectives Survey. Overall, the survey 66 percent of physicians believe that they will become more integrated over the next three years.

34 percent of physicians plan to leave their practices in the near future.
A Wolters Kluwer Health 2013 Physician Outlook Survey has found that 34 percent of physicians are “very” or “somewhat” likely to leave their practices in the near future. Of those planning to leave, 29 percent said they would make the decision because they were struggling make their practices profitable.

Medicare proposes to end bariatric surgery center certification requirements.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has announced a proposal to end certification requirements for bariatric surgery centers. The announcement states that CMS officials have found sufficient evidence that the cessation of bariatric surgery certification requirements would not have an effect on Medicare beneficiary surgery outcomes.

Center for Spine & Pain files CON for surgery center.
The Center for Spine & Pain Medicine, a Tennessee medical practice, has filed a certificate of need for a $514,557 ambulatory surgical treatment center in Chattanooga, Tenn. The facility would include one operating room and offer interventional pain management procedures.

Real estate partnership acquires Cincinnati health center & ASC.
MedProperties Holdings, based in Dallas, and Equity, based in Columbus, Ohio, have acquired the Evendale Healthcare Center in Cincinnati. The four-story facility includes an ambulatory surgery center and number of physician specialties.
