1. Average urologist compensation is near the top of all specialties, with mean income being $340,000.
2. Around 36 percent of urologists said their compensation decreased from 2011 to 2012 while 42 percent said it remained the same.
3. The highest compensating region for urologists was the Great Lakes region, including Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio, reporting an average of $433,000 in annual compensation.
4. The lowest compensating region was the Mid-Atlantic, at $309,000 per year, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
5. Urologists who were employees received average compensation of $321,000 while those who were partners in a group received average of $390,000.
6. Urologists owning a solo practice received $262,000 average compensation last year while those in a multispecialty office-based group practice received $412,000.
