U.S. Patent & Trademark Office Grants OptiMedica Fundamental Patent

OptiMedica’s Catalys Precision Laser System, technology for performing cataract surgery, has earned a patent from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, according to a Fort Mills Times report.

The 3D image-based femtosecond laser system, co-invented by Dr. Daniel Palanker of Stanford University, will be issued the patent on March 12, 2013.

OptiMedica, based in Sunnyvale, Calif., is an ophthalmological device company.
