While CMS’ Office of E-Health Standards and Services will not enforce eligibility for a healthcare plan and healthcare claim status for 90 days, it maintains the Jan. 1 date for operating rules.
The enforcement postponement stems from feedback that HIPAA-covered entities may not be prepared for immediate compliance.
Complaints associated with operating rule compliance can still be submitted beginning Jan. 1.
