Study: Vision Insurance Should Be Mandatory in Health Plans

The results of a new study indicate that a lack of vision insurance may irrevocably affect vision, according to a news release.

As a result, the researchers conclude that “vision insurance for preventive eye care should cease to be a separate insurance benefit and should be mandatory in all health plans,” according to the study’s abstract.

The study was published in the Archives of Ophthalmology.

 

The study bases its conclusions on 2008 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data collected by CDC.
