Former Lackland Acquisition Supervisor Pleads Guilty to $100K in Bank Fraud

A former insurance billing supervisor pleaded guilty to bank fraud charges after submitting $100,000 in fraudulent check requests, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

Pamela Hoernschemeyer, 46, handled the SSM Health Care account for Lackland Acquisition in St. Louis. Lackland contracted with SSM to provide patient billing and collections, claim submissions, remittance, payment posting and account management.

Ms. Hoernschemeyer submitted fraudulent check request forms to SSM requesting refunds, and she used the more than $100,000 received for personal purchases and spending.

She pleaded guilty to three felony counts of back fraud. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and up to $1 million in fines.
