The licensure issues require surveys that could take 45 to 180 days to complete, according to a hospital press release. According to the report, McLaren did not approach CMS staff to discuss their options until March 30. CMS has since spoken with McLaren about available options, including the possibility of providing services off-site from its Northern Michigan Regional Hospital facility in Petoskey.
CMH, limited in operational funds and under a U.S. Bankruptcy Court order, shut down its medical services by midnight last Tuesday.
