Patient Safety Tool: Time-Out Stop Sign Poster

The Minnesota Hospital Association and the Minnesota Department of Health offer a free, downloadable poster in the shape of a stop sign to help remind members of the operating room team to conduct the surgical time out.

The sign reminds team members to verify patient name, date of birth, procedure, procedure site marked, availability of correct implants and any special equipment of special requirements, and correction position (along with who should respond with each piece of information) before beginning the procedure.

Download the MHA’s time-out stop sign poster (pdf) for adaptation and use in your facility.
