Novartis is a world leader in the research, development, manufacturing and marketing of healthcare products. The FDA issued a letter citing the violations at the company’s plants in Broomfield, Colo.; Wilson, N.C.; and Quebec. The three violations at the Quebec plant were repeats from an inspection in 2009 and included failure to ensure the drugs were produced according to standard. Inspectors found crystals in some vials of injectable liquid drugs, which they also noted during the 2009 inspection. The two other plants failed to make sure the drugs they manufactured had the necessary strength, quality and purity. This was also a repeat violation for both plants.
