ASA: Anesthesiologists Have Limited Role in ACOs

The American Society of Anesthesiologists has reviewed the final ACO regulations and concluded that “it does not seem that anesthesiologists and specialists, in general, will have much of a role in ACOs,” according to an ASA release.

According to the release, ASA feels that while CMS made significant changes in the final rule, the program is still directed toward primary care providers. The society will post a more comprehensive analysis of the changes in the final rule based on the ASA’s comment letter to CMS on the proposed regulations.
