Kaiser Permanente broke ground Oct. 20 on a 187,000-square-foot comprehensive care center in Folsom, Calif., local NBC affiliate KCRA reported Oct. 20.
The outpatient facility will house 60 clinical offices offering primary and specialty care, imaging, lab and pharmacy services. Kaiser expects to open the center in May 2030.
“Folsom continues to grow and Kaiser Permanente is meeting the needs by bringing services to this community,” said Rich Florio, MD, a vascular surgeon with Kaiser Permanente.
The project also includes a 27,000-square-foot expansion of Kaiser’s existing Folsom surgery center, which the health system expects to complete in March 2028, according to a news release.
Dr. Florio said surgery no longer requires a hospital setting or an extended inpatient stay.
“This will allow more people to have surgery closer to home and to recover in their home,” he said.
Plans also call for more than 1,100 parking spaces. The City of Folsom approved the project June 17, according to a state environmental filing that also lists solar canopies over part of the parking lot.
The new building will sit beside Kaiser’s existing ambulatory surgery center on a 45-acre site, according to the filing.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
