Newark (N.J.) Beth Israel Medical Center has opened a new hybrid cardiac catheterization lab Sept. 10, expanding its capacity for complex minimally invasive heart procedures.
The 730-square-foot suite, part of RWJBarnabas Health’s Heart & Vascular Service Line, pairs cardiac catheterization imaging with operating room capabilities in Newark, N.J., according to a Sept. 10 news release.
The lab supports transcatheter aortic valve replacement, peripheral vascular procedures and electrophysiology procedures. In 2025, Newark Beth Israel performed more than 370 complex cardiac procedures in its operating rooms and 3,900 procedures in its cardiac catheterization lab, part of a program that handles more than 4,000 cardiac procedures annually.
The lab opening follows the hospital’s addition of a 16-bay recovery area in 2025 and is part of the broader $200 million Newark Strong expansion project, which includes a new lobby, geriatric unit, redesigned emergency departments and a cardiothoracic ICU. Newark Beth Israel holds Joint Commission disease-specific certifications and American College of Cardiology cath lab accreditation.
