Vermont has become the 26th state to opt out of federal regulations requiring physician supervision of CRNAs, following Gov. Phil Scott’s letter to CMS on July 2, according to a July 10 news release from the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology.
Vermont is the third New England state to opt out, a milestone that means more than half of U.S. states have now removed the physician supervision requirement.
Other states have also recently altered their CRNA supervision laws. In March, Ohio replaced its physician supervision requirement with a collaborative practice framework.
