Columbia, Mo.-based Boone Health is set to resume its cardiology services May 11 following a break with Columbia-based Missouri Heart Center, according to a May 6 report from the Columbia Missourian.
Boone Health filed a civil lawsuit against the center in March, alleging the practice breached contracts, misused confidential information and had plans to engage in unlawful competition.
Missouri Heart Center provided cardiology services for Boone Health for more than a decade. However, more than 20,000 patients lost access to their cardiologist through Missouri Heart Center, when the practice shut down May 6.
Starting May 11, Boone Health is adding five cardiologists and four advanced practice registered nurses. Three physicians who previously worked at Missouri Heart Center are joining Boone Health.
The organization is aiming to have 14 to 16 physicians on staff within the next 18 months. In the meantime, Boone Health will employ 12 locums, the report said.
