Olympus releases new scope reprocessing instructions, Valeant completes Salix acquisition & more – 5 GI/endoscopy company key notes

Here are five recent news updates on gastroenterology and endoscopy companies.

Guy Neev, CEO of Check-Cap, rang the NASDAQ closing bell of the March 31 trading day to celebrate the company's initial public offering and simultaneous private placement. Check-Cap focuses on gastrointestinal imaging devices.

In letters dated March 26, Olympus sent updated, validated manual reprocessing instructions for its TJF-Q180V duodenoscopes. The FDA reviewed the new reprocessing instructions and validation data as part of the ongoing review of the scopes 510(k) process.

PAION initiated a phase 3 clinical trial of Remimazolam, an ultra-short-acting anesthetic for use during colonoscopy.

Shire and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center created a three-year partnership to focus on developing therapies for rare diseases with unmet need. The research partnership will be focused on rare disease in areas such as gastroenterology, nephrology and neurology.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International completed the acquisition of Salix Pharmaceuticals.
