ASGE supports colorectal cancer screening programs for 3 communities in need

The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, a National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable partner, has joined the new NCCRT initiative designed to improve colorectal cancer screening access and rates in community health centers.

Through the new program, three community health centers will each receive up to $100,000 in funding to launch pilot program aimed at improved colorectal cancer screening rates and follow-up care.

The health centers are located in the following communities:

•    Port Royal, S.C.
•    New Haven, Conn.
•    St. Paul, Minn.

The ASGE is one of many organizations participating in the NCCRT initiative. Other participants include:

•    Ambulatory Surgery Center Association
•    American Cancer Society
•    American College of Gastroenterology
•    American Gastroenterological Association
•    American Society of Anesthesiologists
•    Centers for Disease Control
•    College of American Pathologists
•    Commission on Cancer
•    Health Resources and Services Administration
•    Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons
•    National Association of Community Health Centers
