8 gastroenterologist moves & honors

Here are eight gastroenterologists who recently took on new leadership roles or received industry recognition.

St. Matthias Charities honored gastroenterologist Vijaypal Arya, MD, of Wyckoff Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Three researchers from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York won 2014 Scientific Achievement Awards from the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America. The winners include:

•    Jean-Frédéric Colombel, MD, professor of medicine and director of The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
•    Judy H. Cho, MD, Ward-Coleman Professor of Translational Genetics and Medicine, vice-chair of translational genetics, associate chief for research in the Dr. Henry D. Janowitz Division of Gastroenterology and director of CePORTED at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
•    David B. Sachar, MD, clinical professor of medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine and director emeritus of the Dr. Henry D. Janowitz Division of Gastroenterology in the Samuel Bronfman Department of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

Ashish Nimgaonkar, MBBS, MTech, MS, of John Hopkins University in Baltimore, received the American Gastroenterological Association Research Foundation's AGA-Boston Scientific Career Development Technology & Innovation Award.

Biotechnology company Qu Biologics added Remo Panaccione, MD, to its inflammatory bowel disease advisory team.

Bronson Gastroenterology Portage (Mich.) added Christopher Radawski, MD, to its team.

Coastal Gastroenterology Associates in Brick, N.J., added gastroenterologist Scott Schlachter, DO, to its team.
