University Hospitals of Cleveland select Sectra VNA solution for imaging: 4 observations

University Hospitals of Cleveland entered into a multi-year contract with Sectra, Swedish-based international medical imaging IT company, to implement its vendor neutral archive solution.

Here are four observations:

1. The VNA solution addresses patient imaging throughout the University Hospitals system.

2. At first, the VNA solution will focus on radiology, cardiology, dermatology and ophthalmology imaging.

3. The archive will manage 1.5 million studies per year.

4. University Hospitals includes 16 hospitals and more than 30 outpatient facilities. It offers healthcare services throughout 15 counties in Northeast Ohio.

"This implementation is an essential component of our strategy to unify our electronic medical records across the enterprise," said John Foley, chief information officer of University Hospitals. "The VNA will establish within out EMR a single access point where providers can view medical images…"
