11 pharmacists honored at Next-Generation Pharmacist gala

The sixth annual Next-Generation Pharmacist awards gala occurred on August 6.

Here are five things to know:

1. Michael Evans, BS, RPh, the director of ambulatory pharmacy programs at Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pa., won the top honor of 2015 Next-Generation Pharmacist.

2. The August issue of Pharmacy Times will feature Mr. Evans and his contributions.

3. The first winner of the new Health-System Pharmacist category, Mr. Evans won due to his efforts in Geisinger's Medication Disease Management Program.

4. George Kress, RPh, AAHIVP, of Walgreens won the civic leader category; Phillip LaFoy, DPh, of Blount Discount Pharmacy won the entrepreneur category; Evan Schnur, PharmD, of Walmart won the rising star category.

5. The 2015 Next-Generation Pharmacist winners included 11 pharmacists in various categories.  
 
"Michael is committed to his role as a counselor, helping his patients understand their medical conditions, improve their overall health and wellness and recognize how to maximize their insurance plans and medical coverage," said Fred M. Eckel, RPh, MS, ScD (Hon), Pharmacy Times editor-in-chief and chair of panel judges.
