South Carolina Hospital Association to Host Annual Patient Safety Symposium

South Carolina Hospital Association is hosting its Fourth Annual Patient Safety Symposium March 16 in Columbia, S.C., according to a news release.

One of the highlights of the symposium is a visit by Atul Gawande, MD, who chose South Carolina to pilot his Safe Surgery: 2015 initiative, which features a patient safety checklist. Dr. Gawande said since September, when he announced his choice of South Carolina, all the state's hospitals performing surgery have implemented the list, according to the release.
