Several patients have become sick after being admitted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash., which was tested positive by authorities from the Centers for Disease Control for legionella bacteria, according to a local KHQ news report.
The CDC visited the hospital last week and tested several cultures, which tested positive for the bacteria that can lead to Legionnaires' disease. The hospital has not yet determined the source of the bacteria and whether it originated within the hospital, according to the news report.
Patients are receiving bottled water, while the hospital works toward cleaning all water tanks and chlorinating water.
