Tests on the Ebola virus presently found in Liberia revealed the virus is closely related to an earlier Liberian strain, according to Fox News.
Here are four notes:
1. Recent findings reveal the disease was never completely eradicated from the Liberia.
2. The first case of Ebola in nearly two months was reported on June 30 when the body of 17-year-old boy, Abraham Memaigar, was found in Margibi County. He tested positive for the virus.
3. Health officials are shocked because Margibi County is far from Ebola hotspots such as the borders of Guinea and Sierra Leone. Abraham Memaigar was not known to be in contact with any travelers.
4. Officials believe Ebola can survive no more than 21 days in most body fluids such as blood and vomit. However, it can survive in semen and soft tissues for months after the discovery.
