The California Department of Public Health fined 12 hospitals after they found issues that caused or could cause serious harm to patients, according to a DPH statement.
Most of the hospitals were fined because they either "did not follow policies and procedures regarding the treatment and care of a patient," or they "failed to ensure the health and safety of a patient when it did not follow surgical policies and procedures."
The following hospitals faced penalties:
1. California Pacific Medical Center - Pacific Campus Hospital in San Francisco
2. Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula in Monterey
3. Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville
4. Glenn Medical Center in Willows
5. Kaiser Foundation Hospital – San Diego
6. Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae
7. Mercy Medical Center in Merced
8. Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center in Fountain Valley
9. Redlands Community Hospital in Redlands
10. San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital
11. Scripps Mercy Hospital – Chula Vista
12. Seton Medical Center
