ASC Leader to Know: Dr. John Carrino of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine

John Carrino, MD, MPH, is the chief of musculoskeletal radiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He is also an associate professor of radiology and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Carrino's areas of clinical interest include spine imaging and novel MRI techniques.

At Johns Hopkins he provides services in joint and spine intervention for pain management, tumors of the bones and muscles, sports-related injuries and high-resolution MR neurography and MR guided injection. Dr. Carrino has conducted extensive research on health services and informatics.

He is the 2005 recipient of the Society of Interventional Radiology Distinguished Faculty Award and the 1999 recipient of the George Marina Teaching Award from Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Carrino received his medical degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco and a radiology residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut.
