The American College of Surgeons Health Policy Research Institute’s “United States Atlas of the Surgical Workforce” displays the distribution of total surgeons, general surgeons and physicians at the state level.
It also provides a percent change in number of surgeons and general surgeons from 2004-2008.
Future versions of the Atlas will offer additional geographic units and additional data, according to the ACS.
