A patient recruiter for three clinics in the Detroit area has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for his role in a $15 million Medicare fraud scheme, according to a news release from the Department of Justice.
Arnaldo Rosario pleaded guilty to one county of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud in 2009 pertaining to fraudulent activity from March 2006-2007. He admitted to overseeing and facilitating the payment of cash kickbacks to Medicare beneficiaries who visited Sacred Hope Medical Center, Dearborn Medical Rehabilitation Center and Xpress Center. In exchange for the kickbacks, beneficiaries would sign documents falsely indicating they had received services that were then billed to Medicare.
