The two organizations presented their arguments at a Virginia Department of Public Health hearing; the department adjudication officer will make a recommendation to the state health commissioner by July 9.
Centra is hoping to build a 27,000-square-foot surgery center, which would include a two-operating room ASC, and also offer emergency and imaging services.
It received bad news in May when state’s Division of Certificate of Public Need recommended against CON approval.
If Centra cannot build the surgery center in Danville, Pittsylvania officials have lobbied for the company to build the ASC in their county.
