Alberto Marzan, MD, was charged with defrauding Wisconsin-based military health program WPS Health Insurance out of more than $1 million in the 1990s. Federal prosecutor announced the case would be dismissed due to lack of evidence.
Dr. Marzan allegedly recruited military retirees and their dependents to submit false claims for expensive services and medication that were never received. The indictment against Dr. Marzan says he submitted a total of $1.5 million in bogus claims to WPS Health Insurance and was paid more than $1 million between 1990 and 1996.
