Elena Silva, who was admitted to the hospital for pain and numbness in her arm, was administered 50 times the ordered amount of heparin. The hospital has agreed to pay Ms. Silva’s family close to the maximum settlement amount allowed under state law — $250,000. Community Regional officials said the hospital has taken steps to ensure such an event doesn’t happen again.
