Two Louisiana Residents Charged in Medicare Fraud Scheme

Ray Kirt of Franklin, La., and Peggy Wiggins Mingo of Morgan City, La., have been charged by a federal grand jury for their roles in a Baton Rouge, La.-based Medicare fraud scheme, according to a report by Advocate News.

Mr. Kirt was the owner of Above and Beyond, a provider of psychotherapy services in Baton Rouge. Mr. Kirt is accused of billing Medicare for services that were never provided or were provided by unlicensed individuals. He is estimated to have received $270,000 from those fraudulent billings, according to the report.

Ms. Wiggins Mingo is charged with helping Mr. Kirt prepare the fraudulent claims.

Three others involved in the scheme have pleaded guilty, according to the report.
