For the study, researchers accessed patient records to determine MRSA infection rates among TRICARE patients from January 2005 through December 2010. Their analysis showed annual incidence rates for community-onset MRSA dropped from 1.7 per 100,000 person-years in 2005 to 1.2 per 100,000 person-years in 2010. Similarly, annual infection rates for hospital-onset MRSA decreased from 0.7 per 100,000 person-years in 2005 to 0.4 per 100,000 person-years in 2010.
