Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System, Sentara Healthcare and Riverside Health all have plans for ASCs in the county.

The three ASCs were recommended for denial because three hospitals in the area — Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Va., Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Va.,  and Maryview Hospital in Portsmouth, Va. — currently operate at less than capacity, according to the report.
The final decision regarding the future of the centers will be decided by the state health commissioner and is not expected until June, according to the report.
